Volunteer to be the ‘spark’ for positive ageing in your community

All our groups begin when someone offers to volunteer as a group leader. Our leaders are hosts and co-ordinators, and generally have some prior experience of working with groups of people and an intention to continue making difference, even though they have left the full-time workforce. The Foundation supports these leaders with a comprehensive Leaders Manual, a buddy system with an experience group leader and a monthly on-line meeting with our other leaders.

Our leaders tell us that they enjoy leading their groups because leading;

Helps them continue to lead, learn and flourish.

Feels great bringing people together as a community to create positive change.

Helps them to use their experience working with people to uplift others

What’s involved in leading a Flourishing Group?

Our leaders don’t need to know anything about positive psychology or flourishing; we provide all the information and support required to successfully lead a Flourishing Group.

In any given month, our leaders typically spend:

  • 1-2 hours preparing for each meeting of their Flourishing Group

  • 90 minutes for the Flourishing Group meeting

  • 1 hour meeting with other leaders via Zoom, on the third wednesday of the month at 4pm
